On Friday, February 28th iCan Studios in Hackney Wick became a underground house warehouse party with a flamboyant side thanks to the production gloss from the Kubicle ladies.
iCan Studios had a festival atmosphere throughout night with plenty of Rio carnival costumes on display to compliment the decor, including a colourful DJ booth and live artwork by Mikey Brai, while the Miss Lippy glitter girls seemed to have grabbed almost everyone for a glitter makeover. It helped get the KubiKid – the name given to Kubicle regulars – in the mood to dance like their south American counterparts, and there was no shortage of beats and vibes from Miguel Campbell’s Outcross stable to contribute to the glamour.
Matt Hughes and Tboy on the Leeds-based label both got their chance to lead the crowd through deep and pulsating house grooves, but it was Campbell’s closing set which everyone seemed to be waiting to hear. He couldn’t resist the chance to drop “Something Special” in amongst a selection of vibrant tunes which ensured the colourful crowd were dancing until the end and gave iCan Studios a raw warehouse party feel.
Those Kubikids know how to have a good time – join them for the next Kubicle featuring Laura Jones, Laura Jones, Richy Ahmed, Toni D and FB Julian at iCan Studios on Friday, March 21st. For details go here.
