Kode9's influential label will oversee live sets in ICA's Theatre from Ikonika, Nazar, and Proc Fiskal, starting at 7.30pm.
Ikonika will presents her debut UK live show, featuring tracks from 2022’s Bubble Up EP.
She users her own voice in her productions for the first time on the EP while drawing from amapiano and deep house to explore the more pop-leaning elements of her sound that she describes as ‘queer love anthems for the dancefloor’.
Nazar will delve into a set of what he terms 'rough kuduro', a sound defined by 2020's Guerrilla. On the EP he explores his familial connection to the Angolan civil war. By examining and digitising collective memory, Nazar threads together oral histories and political realities.
Mixing UK club sounds with phone recordings, sound collage and vocal manipulation, Proc Fiskal brings a high-pressure bass set rooted in genre defiance and high energy futurism.
