All the acts playing at underground dance music festival Glade have been announced, including the names for the returning Overkill arena, the Pyromid Stage and intrguing concept of the Meteor. The Glade experience is back at Norfolk’s Houghton Hall from June 14th to 17th, one of the few places in the UK which welcomes all festival-goers equally. The site will have 14 stages showcasing hundreds of DJs and live acts from around the globe.
One of Europe’s finest boutique festival Soundwave Croatia returns for its fourth year in the stunning location of Tisno on the Dalmatian coastline between Split and Zadar. From July 19th to 23rd bands and DJs from around the world will play boat parties on the Adriatic Sea and at an on-site club.
UK house veterans, X-Press 2, return with their third album for Skint, The House of X-press 2. On Saturday, March 3rd London’s XOYO will welcome Rocky and Diesel for their album launch party for a night of unadulterated house music.
A new one-day music festival has been announced for Bristol: Love Saves the Day. Happening over the Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend on Sunday, June 3rd, the greenfield festival in the heart of the city is being produced by innovative Bristol promoters including the team behind Glastonbury Dance Village’s Wow! stage, last year’s See No Evil and one half of the brains of In:Motion. There will be a mix of DJs, live acts, exhibitions and arts installations for revellers to enjoy – and the music offerings announced so far are perfect festival attractions.
Victorian garmented futurist Daedelus returns to London with his beat-crunching Monome and his steamfunk audiovisual invention Archimedes at Village Underground on Friday, April 13th. Imagined by Daedelus, created with the expertise of Emmanuel Biard and David Leonard, and premiered at London’s Koko, Archimedes is a bespoke mechanised wall of moving mirrors. In time with the music, Archimedes twists lights and flips images projected from its base, amplifying the already-ecstatic light show for a unique visual experience.
Music icons, breakthrough acts, a swimming pool, themed fancy dress, an on-site nightclub, bars that never close, sprawling arts installations and a roaming interactive theatre will be part of this year’s Standon Calling three-day festival. The Hertfordshire event will run from August 3rd to 5th with headliners Death in Vegas, Beardyman and Fat Freddie’s Drop the first music acts to be revealed.
The Lake District will come alive when Kendal Calling returns this summer with a mash up of music styles and quirky entertainment including a Twin Peaks-style diner curated by Tim Burgess called Tim Peaks. Dizzee Rascal, James and Maximo Park lead the music at the three day festival running from Friday, July 27th to Sunday, July 29th. Other acts include Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Feeder, Andy C, Ms Dynamite and Benga.
The UK’s newest dedicated techno venue launches at the end of March in Birmingham with a programme including Radioslave, Carl Craig, Audiofly and Onur Ozer over its first two months. Run by the city’s techno brand TRMNL, the flagship club LAB11 will open in Digbeth on Saturday, March 31st with Radioslave headlining its debut night.
New Order, Wilco, James Vincent McMorrow and Leftfield lead the billing for Dublin city centre’s music and arts festival Forbidden Fruit. The winner of Best New Festival at the Irish Festival Awards 2011, the three-day event returns for the June Bank Holiday Weekend with five days in its urban setting.
Carl Cox, Erick Morillo and John Digweed will be the headline DJs for Saturday at South West Four this August bank holiday. The trio of superstar deck wizards have all performed famous sets at the Clapham Common event and will return on Saturday, August 25th. They join the headline live act Chase & Status.
Manchester’s Warehouse Project has announced a second show over Easter at its new venue. On Good Friday (April 6th) Swedish house superstars Eric Prydz and Axwell will headline room one with Bedrock’s John Digweed taking charge of room two.
Rock royalty Queen return to the live stage a quarter of a centurty after their last performance to play a second concert at the venue that once provided them with their biggest gig: Knebworth Park. Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor have confirmed the band will headline the second day of Sonisphere on Saturday July 7.
Engine Earz and RackNRuin will play special reggae DJ sets for Rompa’s Reggae Shack at The Victory. The final installment before the event jets off to Snowbombing in April, get along to the venue on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch for reggae, dub, roots, rockers, dubstep and jungle on Saturday, March 3rd.
London’s Lovebox festival has moved to June for 2012 but the three day event promises the same mix of dubstep, hip-hop, drum & bass, house, techno and indie over three days in Victoria Park. The Hackney green space will play host to the 10th anniversary of Lovebox running from Friday, June 15th to Sunday, June 17th.
The reformed New Order will headline Bestival on its Saturday night. Gillian Gilbert has rejoined the long-running act and they will play the main stage on the third day of The Isle of Wight festival, this year running from Thursday, September 6th to Sunday, September 9th.
Bristol’s Motion nightclub has built a firm foundation for top parties on its skatepark roots following two seasons of In:Motion. It’s launched a new website with a host of hot acts appearing in March as well as galleries, videos and a blog to keep the Motion spirit alive all during the week.
Glade continues to reveal its line-up with further influential electronic music acts Stephan Bodzin, Oliver Huntemann and System 7 along with favourites the Stanton Warriors, The Correspondents and Lewah. The 10,000 capacity dance festival at Houghton Hall in Kings Lynn, Norfolk will run from Thursday, June 14th to Sunday, June 17th also featuring Sven Vath, Andy C, Rusko and Vitalic.
Clapham Common’s South West Four will go on an hour later each day this year and be headlined by bassheads Chase & Status on Saturday, August 25th. The popular day festival over the August bank holiday weekend has had its licence extended to a 10pm close on both the Saturday and Sunday, and has revealed the first act to close the main stage.
Patrick Bodmer of duo M.A.N.D.Y. will get behind the decks for an eight hour set as part of the A Night With… series in London. On Saturday, March 10th Bodmer will appear independently of his songwriting partner Philipp Jung as A Night With… moves to NW10’s Loft Studios.

Electric Deluxe Presents touches down in April for the London leg of their fourth birthday weekender with a German techno cast at Brixton Electric. Following a night in Lausanne with Phil Kieran and Thierry Collado, EDP brings a slice of Berlin and Berghain to the south London venue, courtesy of Marcel Dettmann, Marcel Fengler and the esteemed Sandwell District performing live.
