BoomTown adds stages, venues, and fancy dress

The BoomTown Fair at Winchester’s Matterley Estate has sold more than 70 percent of its tickets, and has now revealed its fancy dress theme along with plans for 15 new venues, areas, attractions and adventures. From Thursday, August 9th to Sunday, August 12th its immersive environment will be full of fancy dress of the outer space variety and last year organisers saw revellers adopt their personas for the entire four days and nights. This year there will be 15 more bonkers venues for space creatures to enjoy themselves.

Eastern Electrics Festival location announced

Clapham Common will host the first Eastern Electrics Festival on Saturday, August 4th. The all-night warehouse parties will step out into the daylight with six stages and acts including Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Nina Kraviz, Tensnake and Joy Orbison previously announced for the 11am to 10pm day of house and techno. The first batches of tickets sold out fast, and with more names revealed you may need to get yours quick.

Arcadia stage on tour 2012

The mechanical, fire-breathing beast of a festival stage that is Arcadia is taking a year off to with no Glastonbury this summer to go on a pyrotechnic extravaganza of a tour. There will be a new, exclusive, one-off show with the mega 50-tonne spider structure at Bristol’s BoomTown Fair in August and a collaboration of imported fire art, circus and mechanical sculptures at Bestival in September. The team will also be venturing into Europe for the first time.

Birmingham’s newest music venue LAB11 opened its doors on Saturday, March 31st attracting a sell out crowd. The Digbeth venue was christened with sets from Radio Slave, Mark Henning and Ethy & Flori across two rooms of a former warehouse plus an outside terrace.

Bloc Festival day tickets on sale

Day tickets have been released for Bloc Festival in London on Friday, July 6th and Saturday, July 7th along with the line-up split for each. Both days will run from 2pm to 6am with a blend of techno, electro, dubstep, house, hip hop and electronica at the London Pleasure Gardens in the Royal Victoria Docks, East London. The setting by the water’s edge, overlooked by monolithic post-industrial derelict buildings is the first time the event has been held outside a holiday park with open air stages.

Stevie Wonder Sunday at Bestival

True music legend Stevie Wonder will headline Sunday night at Bestival. The man who had his first number one hit with “Fingertips, Part 2” at the age of 13 will grace the main stage at the Isle of Wight festival to cap its final day on Sunday, September 9th. He had a run of five classic mid-70s albums that included Talking Book, Innervisions and Songs in the Key of Life and platinum-selling albums in the 80s producing hit singles “Superstition”, “Higher Ground” and “Masterblaster (Jammin’)”. Eastern Electrics Festival announced

Long-running underground London promotors Eastern Electrics is branching out from all-night warehouse raves into the festival circuit with a day event at a central London outdoor site. Famed for hosting large-scale raves, their last welcomed in 2012 with a four-hour set from Laurent Garnier at The Coronet in Elephant & Castle. On Saturday, August 4th revellers will be able to enjoy house and techno in the open air during the day and tickets are selling fast.

Warehouse Project reveal Easter venue

The venue for the two Warehouse Project events over Easter has been revealed. The location for the events on Friday, April 6th and Sunday, April 8th will be on Trafford Park Road, Trafford Park. Organisers have said the venue will lend itself perfectly for this occasion, distinguished by its huge dimensions with its interior dominated by steel and brickwork. Having lay dormant for a number of years, the Warehouse Project is set to ignite the buildings faded flame, restoring it with new function and purpose.

Coppe' returns with deluxe album

Legendary Japanese electronica act Coppe’ is back with a new single ahead of a special album release in April. Her 14th album, Rays is a joint effort with Georgian musician and filmmaker Nikakoi coupling Coppe’s otherworldly vocals with Nikakoi’s rich, textured production. Rays will be preceded by digital double A-side “Forbidden/My Heartbeatz Become Earthquake” from Bleep.com on April 9th (general release April 16th) with which Nikakoi takes “Forbidden” into spiky glitch terrain. On “My Heartbeatz Become Earthquake” Japanese producer Jemapur collaborates for a taster of what’s to come at the end of April with the full album release.

Parklife to leave Platt Fields
