Music, culture and ecology are the focus of Peru’s Inti fest on Asia beach just outside it’s capital Lima. Started in 2010, it aims to tell of the history of the country, educate on global issues through eco art projects and showcase underground music. This year it will happen on Saturday, February 16th with Josh Wink, Lee Burridge, Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts, Reboot, Dan Berkson & James What, Droog, Clive Henry and Bill Patrick among the local and international artists to perform.
Croatia is fast becoming a festival superpower with Love System the latest to take place there. The new event in the town of Petrcane on the Adriatic coastline will run from Thursday, May 30th to Sunday, June 2nd aimed squarely at lovers of house music with headliners Shonky, Bicep, Mario Basanov, Finnebassen and Ralph Lawson.
Matthias Tanzmann, Davide Squillace, Francesca Lombardo and Seb Zito will soundtrack the first birthday of Return to the Future. The London event notches up its fifth party at a secret location on Friday, January 25th with Silvi Lotto, Death On The Balcony and Lee Brinx also getting behind the decks.
Another 24 acts have been added to Croatia’s Hideout festival including Marco Carola, SBTRKT, Skream, Benga, Four Tet, Lee Foss. The event on the Island of Pag runs from Sunday, June 30th to Friday, July 5th with the music spread across Zrce Beach and its surrounding clubs with pre-parties, after-parties, chill-outs and club nights.
The 18th Amsterdam Dance event will be held from Wednesday, October 16th to Sunday, October 2013. The global conference and international club festival expects to attract 200,000 festival-goers and 4,000 professionals, expanding through a larger ADE Playground, daytime film screenings, exhibitions and retail promotions.
Tomorrowland was crowned the best major European festival at the Festival Awards Europe 2012 ceremony. The Belgium event won following an online public vote with Heineken Balaton Sound in Hungray and Poland’s Tauron New Music Festival the medium-sized and small festival winners respectively.
A new dance music festival is coming to Essex in May headlined by Cocoon Heroes Sven Väth and Ricardo Villalobos plus an impressive supporting cast including Guy Gerber, Damian Lazarus, Kerri Chandler, Deetron, MK and Rudimental live. We Are FSTVL is a one-day event to be held on Saturday, May 25th, taking over Damyn’s Hall Aerodrome in Upminster and organised by Nikki Gordon who was part of the team behind TDK Cross Central and legendary London venues The Cross and The Key.
The Mystery Jets, Mumford & Sons and Ben Howard all performed at Blissfields in their emerging years, and now the festival is hunting for more new talent. Acts are invited to enter the Road to Blissfields competition via an online form, from which four or five will be asked to play a live heat in their local town. The winner of that heat will then either play at the festival in July if they’re competing at one of the local events, or on to the national final in London where a winner will represent all towns further afield.
An extended set from John Digweed is billed for Bedrock’s traditional London Maundy Thursday date on March 28th. It will be the first Bedrock in the capital since October’s anniversary party featuring Apparat, Amirali, Edu Imbernon, Mark Fanciulli and Maxime Dangles.
Miss Kittin, Daniel Avery and Justin Robertson will play Matt Walsh’s Clouded Vision night at Loft Studios in London on Saturday, February 16th. Walsh’s artistic platform prides itself in showcasing fresh talent, with the top acts joined by Walsh for an all-nighter at the Kensal Rise venue.
Seth Troxler, Chris Liebing, Magda, Theo Parrish, Guy Gerber and Claude VonStroke are among the first 40 acts announced for the debut Eastern Electrics Festival at Knebworth Park in August. The three day event will start on Friday, August 2nd at the Hertfordshire venue, following a succesful one-day inner city London event last year.
A mountain-top music festival in Italy makes its debut in 2013 when Vertigo lands at Pragelato in August. Music already announced includes Berlin-based label Get Physical showcasing M.A.N.D.Y., DJ T, Smash TV and Betoko, while Swiss based Cadenza Records welcome Reboot, UNER, Michel Cleis and Andrea Oliva.
Miami’s Ultra Music Festival had its first phase line-up leaked onto the internet by Avicii over the new year weekend, and organisers have now confirmed those details for the six-day, two-weekend event. From Friday, March 15th to Sunday, March 17th and then Friday, March 22th to Sunday, March 24th, Downtown Miami will host the 15th year of Ultra, featuring a farewell performance from the Swedish House Mafia.
Easter will see Loco Dice return to London for an all-night showcase of his trademark chunky grooves. The night will be hosted at a central location he has never played before.
Bestival will pay tribute to those who died on their way home from the festival last summer with a special charity night, Bestival Benefit. The entire team were devestated to learn of the fatal coach crash, and after extensive consultation with those affected and as a tribute to everyone involved, they will host the event on Saturday, March 30th at Nation in Liverpool.
Gig, dance, eat and get to bed on time with the Secret Garden Party and Early Doors Disco monthly night Raiders of the Last Tube. Starting on Thursday, January 17th at the Lexington on Pentonville Road in London, Arlissa and Annie Eve will be the first live acts of the series.
Techno promoters Coma are heading back to Liverpool after a year in London for a night with Vince Watson, Tim Wolff and Doubleffe. Join them on Saturday, February 2nd from 9pm to 4am for deep electronic vibes at a secret venue.
Independent UK label Tru Thoughts are putting on a showcase at London’s KOKO organised by Soundcrash. On Saturday, February 23rd there will be a series of live acts and DJs including Quan4c, Hidden Orchestra, Anchorsong, Belleruche and Rodney P taking in soul, funk, electronic, tropical rhythms and hip hop.
A leading name in UK hip hop, Rodney Smith aka Roots Manuva is playing a new live show at London’s KOKO on Saturday, March 16th.
The Welsh woods of Carreglwyd, Llanfaethlu will be taken over by Gottwood Festival next June of the annual four-day electronic music and art event. This year it will kick off the summer solstice, running from Thursday, June 20th to Sunday, June 23rd set within the depths of the Welsh woodland and next to the sandy beaches of the Irish Sea.
Soundwave Croatia Festival will return to the sunny shores of Tisno for its fifth year next July. For five days the fishing village on the Dalmation Coast between Split and Zadar will feature private beach parties, boat parties and open-air nightclub. Bonobo, Submotion Orchestra, Anchorsong, Kidkanevil, Craig Charles and Kelpe are among the first artists to be confirmed.
Seth Troxler, Julio Bashmore, Soul Clap, Netsky, Bicep, High Contrast, DJ Hype and Joker have all been added to the Hideout Festival bill. They join acts such as Loco Dice, Chase & Status, Jamie Jones, Modeselektor and Pendulum for the week-long event on the Island of Pag in Croatia.
