Help bring the spirit of Glasto 1971 to the big screen

Award-winning documentary filmmakers Michael Watts and David McNulty are calling on festival fanatics to share their festival spirit by helping fund their new project about the origins of Glastonbury. Their Spirit of ‘71 film will chronicle the events leading up to the first Glastonbury festival in 1971 – and you can get a credit at the end of the documentary by donating to what will be an insight into the most famous music festival in the world.

Felix Da Housecat and DJ Hell launch Electric Brixton

Bestival sells out

For the seventh year running The Isle of Wight’s Bestival has sold out. All 50,000 tickets have been snapped up for the 18-stage event headlined by The Cure, Pendulum and Bjork as well as fancy dress, a roller disco, crazy golf and other antics from Thursday, September 8th to Sunday, September 11th but there is still a way for envious festival-fans to get on board.

Rock out at the Bookstock Street Party

The East side of London often gets overlooked during the August bank holiday weekend, but this year a stree party of its own will see revellers enjoy music, dressing up, games, food and booze featuring The Correspondents, Little Boots, Brassroots and Sink the Pink. Warehouse Project End of Store Street Programme

Manchester ravers will have their fingers crossed for a rebirth next year as the city’s premier clubbing series the Warehouse Project has revealed it is to call time on its annual residency below Piccadilly Station on Store Street. On January 1st, 2012 the doors will close for the last time on what has been a exciting cavernous space to hold all-night parties with one final show that is so anticipated, it’s already sold out. There’s another 15 weeks of shows to choose from, though, with more than 250 artists performing live or spinning the tunes.

The UKF Bass Culture Festival at Alexandra Palace has announced DJ Fresh, Zane Lowe and Mistajam as the first acts to join headliners Chase & Status in November. DJ Fresh will headline the second stage while Radio 1’s Lowe and Mistajam will be on the main stage. Underground giants Drum & Bass Arena and Get Darker will go head-to-head hosting arena three.

The Playground presents: electro vs dubstep

A battle of the genres will erupt at London’s KOKO when electro takes on dubstep at The Playground in September. In the electro corner will be Californian DJ/producer Steve Aoki along with Does It Offend You Yeah?, Mixhell, Autoerotique while the dubstep corner will feature Modestep, Bar 9, Roksonix and Genetix. Expect bass body shots and dirty synth uppercuts as the contest is fought on the dancefloor.
