Following the annoucement Pendulum will close this year’s South West Four Weekender on Clapham Common Underworld have been revealed as the Saturday headliner.
Karl Hyde and Rick Smith aka Underworld are heavyweights of the electronic world. Famed for their techno/rock fusion, their sound has been acclaimed in both commercial and underground domains for more than 20 years. “Born Slippy” was a marriage of house, techno, drum & bass and pop with the famous chords forming one of the most popular dance track ever, it was included in the film Trainspotting and sold in excess of 750 000 copies. Epic crossovers have been a platform for their success, with six monstrous albums including Oblivion With Bells On and the most recent Barking.
Into the live arena they have headlined the likes of Glastonbury, Glade and the Love Parade. Last year’s sell out concerts in London, Manchester and Glasgow helped them break new ground with stunning visuals and incredible sound engineering. With the duo snapped up to soundtrack Danny Boyle’s recent production of Frankenstein at the National Theatre, they will take to Clapham Common in August for a London 2011 exclusive following appearances at Ultra, Sonar and Exit. Karl said: “London is our town and we love to play in front of a home crowd. SW4 is going to be amazing this year and we can’t wait to play there. It’s a party in the sun for London’s night people. See you there.”
