Nils Frahm, Jeff Mills, Larry Heard and Model 500 will play The Hydra August bank holiday weekender at Printworks London. Returning to the weekend that launched The Hydra in 2012, there will be three shows at the East London venue from Friday, August 23rd to Sunday, August 25th.
On Friday, composer Nils Frahm will play live with support from a founding member of ambient electronic group Global Communication, Tom Middleton. Tom will perform an interpretation of the 1994 album 76:14, celebrating 25 years since its release.
On Saturday, the focus shifts to the dancefloor with Jeff Mills headlining the Press Halls. Ben Klock, Helena Hauff and Mor Elian will get behind the decks while Model 500 and Terrence Dixon will play live. Terrence will be providing a debut of his minimal sound design. The Dark Room will see sets from Move D, Willow, Damiano von Erckert and DEBONAIR.
The finale on Sunday will see the Press Halls host Larry Heard and DāM-FunK live while DJ sets will come from Carl Craig, Moodymann,Theo Parrish and The Hydra co-Founder Dolan Bergin. Jazz, soul and hip-hop will be heard in the Dark Room with DJ sets by Lefto, Joe Armon-Jones, Ash Lauryn and Sofie plus a live performance from Ras G.
Saturday and Sunday’s sessions will feature visual mapping artist and Skepta collaborator Rebel Overlay AKA Spencer Heron plus lighting designers Tiefton and Natalie Heckl whoe learnt their craft at their Panorama Bar residencies. Nils Frahm’s live show will be accompanied by visuals from Stuart Bailes, Nils’ in-house technician.
