A Ninja Tune legend is to head-up a task-force of DJs to deliver past, present and future sets from one of the most important musical genres of the 20th Century at London’s Big Chill House. New monthly residents Mixcloud will give a lesson in the history of hip hop with a Latin Grammy Award-nominee taking centre stage on Saturday, February 26th.
Joining the mystery guest will be DJ MK of Kiss FM who will deliver a 1990’s Golden Era set, UK DMC winner (2004) and Fabric Resident DJ Blakey who’ll play ‘00’s Club Bangers, Rinse FM’s Alexander Nut who represents the Nuskool with a Future Of Hip Hop set. Keeping the pressure up is Suspect Package’s CEO Disorda, one of the most important supporters of the scene who will lay down a full history of UK Hip Hop set, South London collective Breakin’ Bread will play a 70’s B-Boy Breaks set and finally Chris Read (Substance) wraps things up with an 80’s Electro Funk set. Live break dancing from the award-winning crew Born To Rock will help keep the dancefloor moves fresh.
The free event is the first of The Big Chill Presents parties of 2011 welcoming the new monthly residency from on-demand radio platform Mixcloud. Since launching just over a year ago, Mixcloud has seen many exciting acts get involved, creating diverse Cloudcasts. This led to the inspiration for their residency and expect some great talent from the site as well as a community of listeners and fans to connect in the real world – bringing the magic of Mixcloud to life.
