Learning will be at the centre of the Sónar+D 2019 programme. The creative technology congress returns to Barcelona from Wednesday, July 17th to Saturday, July 20th with more than 100 activities featuring 200 artists, technologists and creators of the tools who are reinventing established cultural formats such as exhibitions, concerts and audiovisual experiences.

The seventh Congress on Technology, Creativity and Business will emphasise its training with 1,200 places available on workshops and a new masterclass format for delegates only. More than 20,000 attendees and nearly 5,000 professionals from 2,100 companies across 60 countries are expected.

This year’s Sónar+D will start on Wednesday, July 17th with a conversation between Massive Attack’s Robert del Naja and Björk collaborator Andrew Melchior. Artificial intelligence as a tool for artistic creation will be explored by artists and technologists. Holly Herndon, Mat Dryhurst, Jules LaPlace will share the gestation process of ‘Spawn’, the AI assistant with whom they have composed their album Proto while Daito Manabe, will present his collaboration with the neuroscientist Yukiyasu Kamitani - employing Machine Learning to visualize the content of brain states, visualising our neural activity.

New for Sónar+D 2019 is the exhibition space being reformatted as SonarHub to present all the phases of conception, creation and commercialisation of a project. The Sónar+D by SEAT Auditorium will have an extensive masterclass programme to share specialist knowledge. The congress has also partnered with 4YFN to organise the Startup Hub.

Sónar+D will be seen in Sónar’s music programme thanks to 10 tech-shows by artists such as Daito Manabe and Holly Herndon plus the Sonar360o by MEDIAPRO - a dome dedicated to fulldome audiovisual works.
