Rock out at the Bookstock Street Party

!(feature_l)http://relayer.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/spreads/4e4bb717ae4615000100011d.jpeg!The East side of London often gets overlooked during the August bank holiday weekend, but this year a stree party of its own will see revellers enjoy music, dressing up, games, food and booze featuring The Correspondents, Little Boots, Brassroots and Sink the Pink. Organised by Shoreditch’s The Book Club, the Bookstock Street Party will take over Leonard Street from noon to 9pm.

The free wristbands are already available for the Bookstock Street Party on Sunday, August 28th: pick one up from The Book Club, The Griffin or Pure Evil Gallery on Leonard Street and then get along on the day to enjoy the street entertainment. The Correspondents are Mr Bruce and Chucks. A festival-favourite duo, they revamp vintage sounds for the modern ear. Expect jazz, swing and boogie-woogie laced with drum-loops, synths and bass. Super dooper disco troopers Sink the Pink will bring their straight-friendly gay along coupled with dancing, sequins, vintage disco, big hair, costume changes, glitter, sparkles, moustaches, fun and games. Little Boots and her partner in dancefloor crime Lauren Verge (from 679 Artists) will play a boogie-licious DJ set, while Brassroots, East London’s biggest, brashest and bounciest eight-piece brass band, will rework old favourites.

The Disco Shed will be on hand to present their own Shedphone Disco, Musical Bingo while the original DIY disco, Bring & Share, is coming to town. Plus Bookstock has invited some of The Book Club’s favourites to join in the party: Electro Swing, Big In Japan and Swing Patrol and Electro Swing. Shoreditch Radio are also on-board with some of their favourite DJs.

The Meat Wagon will be bringing the meat to Bookstock, you’ll be able to sample Ginger Joe’s alcoholic ginger beer and Leonard Street’s latest resident, ICN gallery, is opening its café to get into the Bookstock spirit: you’re invited in to chill out with some delicious Japanese foods and cold tea. Pure Evil will bring some ‘POP’ to Bookstock… and The Griffin are planning something special on the day. Along with a small army of face painters and entertainers, a dress-up zone, games and dances, Bookstock will offer plenty of street-based fun.
