Parklife Festival expands to two day event

Tickets go on sale on Thursday for the two-day Parklife Festival in Manchester this June. Following the success of the first summer event organised by the team behind the Warehouse Project, Parklife is back for two days this year.

Manchester’s Platt Fields will feature electronic, indie and crossover acts on Saturday, June 11th and Sunday June 12th. Last year acts including Friendly Fires, Simian Mobile Disco, Magnetic Man, Kele, Booka Shade and Vitalic blasted out the tunes on a hot summer’s day. This year expect more as the Sunday gets repeat treatment and there will be six arenas of music, up on the five of 2010.

Parklife co-promoter Sam Kandel said “We had so much great feedback last year following the event. It appears everyone had an amazing time. The only feedback we got was that people wanted more so we decided to expand Parklife 2011 into a two day event.

We didn’t want to lose the intimacy and fun that was so evident in last year’s festival.

“One option was to increase the capacity of the event but we decided that we didn’t want to lose the intimacy and fun that was so evident in last year’s festival, so while the party
will last twice as long, we will be keeping it at the same capacity.”

A limited number of early bird tickets go on sale Thursday 17th February and the first announcement for 2011’s line up will be made very soon, promised to be an eclectic mix of artists, bands and DJs both established and up-and-coming. Priced at £49.50, early bird weekend tickets to Parklife Festival 2011 will not be around for long…

Tickets will be available from Ticketline (0161 832 111, www.ticketline.co.uk) and Skiddle (0844 884 29 20, www.skiddle.com), for more information visit www.parklife.uk.com.
