Nearly 200 young musicians and circus performers from around the world will take over the main space at London’s Roundhouse for a night of collaborative performance. On Sunday, November 12th, On Mass returns to the Camden venue as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival and featuring a range of emerging artists such as London carnival band Kinetika Bloco and three-time Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo.
Following the success of On Mass 2015 with Jamie Cullum, this year musicians and performers will come from as far as the Faroe Islands, Palestine, India and Brazil. They will hook up with the Roundhouse Choir, Roundhouse Music Collective and Roundhouse Audio Collectives, Breakin’ Convention (Sadler’s Wells), Battersea Art Centres Beat Box Academy and the Roundhouse Street Circus Collective for a night of circus and music.
Angelique is at the centre of the project having produced an exclusive track for On Mass, which will be given to each international group taking part. Each group will produce their own interpretation of the track, reflective of the vibrant spectrum of locations and environments, culminating with the live performance at the Roundhouse in November. The On Mass performance will be live-streamed to a global audience.
The project was born out of the Roundhouse International Programme established to platform the talents of young artists and to encourage collaborations between established and emerging acts around the world.
