The reformed Slowdive, George FitzGerald, Crazy P and Bugged Out have joined the Bluedot 2018 line-up. Returning to Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire from Thursday, July 19th to Sunday, July 22nd, there will also be presenting concepts created for the festival with Craig Charles performing a Space Funk Odyssey set, Dub Pistols presenting their Outta Space DJ set and Scissor Sister Ana Matronic will taking to the decks and hosting The Future Then panel talks - a series of one-off conversations inspired by the 50th anniversary of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Also confirmed are Afriquoi, Nabihah Iqbal, Science in the House, Algorave, Boy Azooga, Cruel World, Plastic Mermaids, Fwar, Warmduscher, Banana Hill DJs, Re-TROS, Amber Arcades, The Long Now, Little Cub, Cosmic Strip, Drahla, Tomorrow We Sail, Chaouche, Late Night Tales DJs, Outliers and Acid Mother’s Temple. Bugged Out will take over the Mission Control stage while away from the music there will be educational talks, lectures and discussions for the whole family. Rick Edwards and Michael Brooks will bring a live version of their popular book Science(ish), while A.C. Grayling will explore questions such as the meaning of life among talks from Blast Theory artist Nick Tandavanitj, sound artist Jana Winderen, and more.
The Gadget Show’s Dallas Campbell will presents his ‘Ad Astra! - An Illustrated Guide to Leaving the Planet’ alongside physicist and broadcaster Professor Jim Al-Khalili, who asks the question ‘Does Life Need Quantum Mechanical? The emerging science of quantum biology’. Comedy will come from Robin Ince, David O’Doherty, Cassetteboy, Simon Munnery, Gary Delaney, Jess Fostekew, Rob Kemp with more to be announced.
