Mala will curate Outlook Festival’s Outlook Orchestra when it returns to London’s Southbank Centre on Sunday, December 2nd. Following in the footsteps of curators and contributors such as David Rodigan, Dawn Penn, Loyle Carner and Newham Generals, Deep Medi boss Mala will lead the orchestra at Royal Festival Hall.
Outlook’s 20 piece orchestra will join forces with Mala to create new interpretations of his productions and remixes such as his album Mala In Cuba and his Peru-inspired Mirrors plus the music of Deep Medi Musik and DMZ. There will also be new workings of some of the most pivotal bass driven tracks of our generation by his friends and peers such as The Bug, Skream, Benga, Kahn, Sir Spiro, Loefah and Goth-Trad.
Led by BASCA award-winning composer Tommy Evans, the 20-piece Outlook Orchestra features two drummers in an extended rhythm section, plus large string and horn sections. Players include rising stars in jazz, Nubya Garcia & Ashley Henry with Eddie Hick (Sons Of Kemet) on drums alongside Richard Spaven (Flying Lotus, The Cinematic Orchestra).
Tickets go on sale Thursday, August 5th. For details and to register interest go to malaoutlookorchestra.com.
