Grace Jones, Jeff Mills, Theo Parrish, Moderat, Floating Points, Cymande, Nina Kraviz and Danny Krivit are among the first acts to be confirmed for Dimensions Festival 2017. Returning to Pula from Wednesday, August 30th to Sunday, September 4th, Dimensions retains its mix of an opening concert in a 2,000-year-old amphitheatre followed by beach and boat parties by day then all-night music in the abandoned Fort Putna Christo.
Dimensions follows up its 8,000 capacity sell out opening concert with Massive Attack last summer with a show headlined by Grace Jones in 2017. She’ll be joined by trio Moderat, comprised of Appartat and Modeselektor, plus Brownswood’s Yussef Kamaal and award winning drummer, composer and producer Moses Boyd presenting his Solo X show.
In the four days that follow the mix of house, techno, soul, disco, jazz, dub, R&B and world music will see a a mix of local legends and internationally revered artists. Top billing goes to techno originator Jeff Mills and festival favourite as well as Soundsignature head honcho Theo Parrish. Other heavyweights include Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann, Floating Points playing twice with a special live show journeying through his own productions, 70s funk band Cymande, multi-instrumentalist funk lord Shuggie Otis and Ghanian rapper Ata Kak. Nina Kraviz, Helena Hauff, Daphni, Joy Orbison and the Hessle Audio team of Ben UFO, Pangaea and Pearson Sound will also play.
Live shows will come from Dopplereffekt, Alexander Robotnick, Demdike Stare, Amp Fiddler, Romare, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Moses Boyd, MNDSGN and Equiknoxx. There will be drum & bass, jungle and dub from dBridge, Alix Perez, Randall, Doc Scott, Skeptical, Kid Drama and Mungo’s Hi-Fi. Jazz, funk and world music will be provided by Yussef Kamaal, Moko Shibata aka Powder, DJ Okapi, Thris Tian, NTS’s Sofie, Andwot, Stamp The Wax’s Harri Pepper and Aaron L, Balamii’s Sam Lloyd, Onemind, Leo Leal, KAMMA, Bane, Mafalda, Donna Leake and Heels & Souls.
Further sets will be heard by Levon Vincent, Tama Sumo b2b Lakuti, Sadar Bahar, Antal, Horse Meat Disco, Binh, Nicky Siano, Luke Hess, Sassy J, Josey Rebelle, Serge, Resom, Paul St Hilaire & Rhauder, Conforce, Interstellar Funk, Gary Gritness and Kerem Akdag.
