Another successful new year party behind them, London’s eastern electrics crew have announced their first major event of the year on the second May Bank Holiday. On Sunday, May 29th the Great Suffolk Street warehouse will see DJ Koze, James Holden, Loefah, Martyn and Braiden bring the noise with three major promotions fuelling three arches of techno, house and dubstep.
Hosting the first arch is mulletover who are brining in minimal house maestro DJ Koze in to headline with a monster four hour set as they celebrate seven years of events. The Hamburg legend will deliver one of his unique diverse sets which uses an ambiant style to reflect a mix of techno and house presented in a pure form. He was part of the influential hip hop act Fischmob in the mid 1990s then legendary Hamburg trio International Pony whose critically acclaimed shows are still celebrated for their dynamic and intelligent programming. Then as Adolf Noise he explored his experimentalist style before settling into his solo DJ role. Expect four hours to remember.
DJ Koze, James Holden, Loefah, Martyn and Braiden will bring the noise.
Bloc’s arch welcomes two titans of the music scene in their first event after the revered Bloc Weekend festival in March. Border Community’s forward-thinking record label boss and eclectic producer James Holden will head up their offering as he continues to showcase the very best in genre-bending sounds with a free-spirited ethos. Cutting-edge dubstep will come from Martyn whose artistic flair is heard via his own love for Detroit techno, Chicago house and hip hop are audible throughout his approach to one of the freshest genres heard in clubs today.
Accopanying these vetern promotions will be newcomers to eastern electrics, Benji B’s London monthly Deviation. Jumping in at the deep end of bass they will present Loefah and Braiden. Loefah is one third of DMZ alongside Mala and Coki who pushes the dubstep sound forward. Braiden, meanwhile, is one of London’s shining lights – a trend-setting DJ whose diverse sets wowed at 2010’s Red Bull Music Academy. His DJ style is pure rolling stone with sets that take in dubstep, future garage, UK funky and techno.
There is still more to be announced from eastern electrics, and their promosing more big names to round off the event.
