Chus and Ceballos are famed for their Iberican sound — a rhythmic, percussive electronic house with a touch of soul stemming from the Iberian peninsula between Spain and Portugal. The duo’s Back on Tracks mix for Nervous Records is full of their trademark vocals over hypnotising, warm and inviting tribal soundscapes heard all over the globe in clubbing hotspots Montreal, New York and Miami.

A healthy house offering from Nervous Records.

There’s no doubting the infectious nature of Chus & Ceballos and their signature style, kicking off with the suitably-titled “We Built This House” and jacking into their groove with Slovenia’s favourite DJ Umek with his “Dementia” tune remixed by Enzo Elia Red Brick. They throw in acapellas, sounds steeped in Spanish culture and uplifting summer anthems such as Chocolate Puma vs Baggi Begovic’s “Solarianism” before hitting the harder edge thanks to Steve Lawler, Danny Tenaglia and a couple of their own tunes.

It’s a lively mix and an excellent showcase for the Iberian sound and as a bonus there’s also a second CD loaded with a selection of the pair’s choice cuts in their raw form which makes it good value for music purists and DJs. A healthy house offering from Nervous Records.
