Vitalic’s energetic electro was given a hiatus last year when Pascal Arbez-Nicolas chose to adopt a more minimal sound interspersed with barnstorming hits “The Bells”, “My Friend Dario” and signature tune “La Rock 01” when performing live. It was a step away from his V Live show and album which went hell-for-leather from start to finish. With new album Flashmob he’s returned to the full throttle sonic assault he became synonymous for and for this showcase of his latest material he brought a lavish new live set to London’s premier nightclub matter.

There will be many clubbers keen to see him return next year for another helping of his mirrored mayhem to cause chaos on the dancefloor.

Flanked by two mirrored walls which doubled up as video screens, Vitalic wasted no time in launching into one of the standout tracks from his latest opus: “Terminateur Benelux”. The matter soundsystem is reknowned for offering bass unlike you’ve ever heard or felt before and he shook the crowd into a frenzy. He kept the good vibrations going thanks to the luch vocal-led “Poison Lips”, the rumbling “Chicken Lady” and trance-like “Second Lives” much to the aural pleasure of a packed dancefloor, putting smiles on the faces of all. He couldn’t resist dropping “La Rock 01” complete with The Chemical Brothers’ “Galavanise” for a breakdown which slotted in perfectly as a prelude to the big build up for the climax to the tune. Impressive visuals spread across the stage for this and many of his other trademark tunes such as “My Friend Dario” — Vitalic means business with this new set up and used an extended slot of 90 minutes to really shine.

One quibble might be that the extra 30 minutes on top of his usual set length coupled with the desire to give his Flashmob tunes an airing meant he didn’t quite get the flow right. At times he seemed to move from track to track without keeping a tight interchange, though it’s a minor flaw on this occasion. Vitalic was cheered onto the stage for an encore of “One Above One” which saw arms punching the air one final time before the he waved goodbye following an impressive night’s work. Vitalic is back bringing the party vibes and there will be many clubbers keen to see him return next year for another helping of his mirrored mayhem to cause chaos on the dancefloor.
